A flight attendant was stationed at the departure gate to check tickets. As a man approached, she extended her hand for the ticket and he opened his trench coat and flashed her. Without blinking an eyelid she said, "Sir, I need to see your ticket not your stub."
A lady was picking through the frozen turkeys at a branch of Sainsbury's store but she couldn't find one big enough for her family. She asked a passing assistant, "Do these turkeys get any bigger?" The assistant replied, "I'm afraid not, they're dead."
The policeman got out of his car and the boy racer he stopped for speeding, rolled down his window. "I've been waiting for you all day," the bobby said. The kid replied, "Yes, well I got here as fast as I could." When the policeman finally stopped laughing, he sent the kid on his way without a ticket.
A lorry driver was driving along on a country road. A sign came up that read "LowBridgeAhead." Before he realised it, the bridge was directly ahead and he got stuck under it.. Cars are backed up for miles. Finally, a police car comes up. The policeman got out of his car and walked to the lorry's cab and said to the driver, "Got stuck, eh?" The lorry driver said, "No, I was delivering this bridge and ran out of petrol!"

Urzz 1 Arsenal 3 ...
The result was a formality of course with Arsenal playing impressive stuff however some disappointing things remain after this defeat. I have never seen Reading play in such a negative fashion, in many ways it was a 4-4-2 ( though an odd one at that with Kitson a wing back at times!) yet with this formation we did not take the game to them other than the first few mins and last 10 or so in the second half. I think that as the home team we should be in the oppositions faces and try to out muscle but it rarely happened.
Not that being negative is always a bad thing especially against class opposition but we played negatively and badly today. Take Man U, we were negative in our approach but got the tactics right as we man marked the danger men and we ultimately out smarted them. Today we had a blanket of 8-9 men inviting pressure and had players marking zonally which meant we were chasing shadows. I just feel let down with the approach today as its something we have not been brought up on especially at home. In some ways the 4-0 defeat last season we at least looked more dangerous in front of a better performing team, Arsenal played ok today but didn't have to get out of 2nd gear. Of course the concerning fact remains the amount of goals we are conceding, you are not going to come away with points if you regularly concede 3-4 goals which we have been doing. Kitson worked hard, as did Shorey and Fae when he came on, but nothing else of note. Our season could well be determined by the pretty woeful 5-6 teams below us, the next home game v Boro is huge, 3 points is vital when we have tough games against Man C and Liverpool. I am constantly looking towards Jan for much needed reinforcements and hope by then we are not sucked into the dogfight we need a few players who can command an instant impact and challenge the very players Coppell had laid his trust in who are not responding in the right way ...

Max headroom memories ...
I know, straight to hell for laughing at this... but if you're going to interview a lightning strike victim that just emerged from a coma, leave the Max Headroom effects behind.
A good friend of ours Dawn Hughes at last has some well deserved publicity for her and fellow sufferers of cancer with an article in the Sun last Wednesday and another in the Observer
There is also a new documentary coming out this Thursday on Channel 4 highlighting the case as well (more here)
Dawn's website is wigstowishes.org.uk go have a look now and leave a message of support.

Fulham 3 Royals 1 (and we have Arsenal next...) ...
Despite many saying the Newcastle win was the turning point, and a decent enough performance here, it was same old story away from home as Fulham won only their second game of the season despite Kevin Doyle's second half goal. An unchanged lineup was justified after the great performance against newcastle so Kevin Doyle played on the right with Leroy Lita and Dave Kitson upfront. After swapping clubs in August, Liam Rosen :(ior and Seol Ki Hyeon both had to make do with places on the respective benches. Neither side really got going in the opening exchanges and chances were non exsistent but that was a welcome relief when compared to the last few away games. However when Fulham made the break through it was no surprise-Hahnemann saved well from Simon Davies but from the resulting corner, the Welsh midfielder volleyed expertly into the corner of the net. Duberry and Kitson had chances before the break but Fulham propably deserved to lead at the interval. After a lacklustre first half, the start to the second was unexpected but pleasing as the Royals bombarded the Fulham goal. Lita had an effort ruled out for offside, before Duberry almost scored again before hunt forced Niemi into a good save. Finally the goal, the sustained period of pressure deserved, arrived when Shorey's corner sailed to the back post where Doyle headed home from close range for his 4th goal of the season. The pressure continued and Shorey forced Niemi into another save but against the run of play Fulham scored again. Substitute's Healy and Kuqi combined to set up Clint Dempsey who simply tapped in from a couple of yards out. The Royals didn't deserve to be behind but the second goal was the turning point of the match and sloppy defending cost us again away from home. Healy added a third in stoppage time after Davies' cross before youngster Elliot Omosuzi was sent off for a second bookable offense after a wild lunge on James Harper. Despite looking dangerous especially after the interval, the fact of the matter is we came away from home to a poor Fulham side and conceded another three goals and were beaten.
